Italy is about 1300 km away from the Netherlands. We chose to drive to Italy with our own car. Would you rather not drive such a long stretch? Then you can also choose to fly to Florence from Amsterdam in 2 hours with, for example, KLM or Transavia. It is therefore best to compare all flight tickets on the Skyscanner or Tix website. At Skyscanner you can easily see on the calendar which day is the cheapest to fly. Once you’ve found a date, you can also compare prices on Tix’s website. The prices and conditions can sometimes differ, so you can always compare. The conditions at Tix are often more flexible, so paying a little more also has its advantages.

However, you can also choose to divert to Dusseldorf or Brussels. For us (living in the middle of The Netherlands) it is only a 2 hour drive. And often saves a lot of money!

It is best to rent a car from the airport. We have good experiences with renting a car at SunnyCars. You are always insured with them all-in and that is so nice when you are on holiday! Prefer a cheaper rental car? Then take a look at Expedia

✈ Best time to travel: May to September, of which July and August are the busiest.✈ Flying: You can get a return ticket to Florence for 90 euros at www.KLM.nl

✈ Parking: Are you still looking for a cheap parking space at Schiphol? Then make sure you reserve your parking space online as soon as possible. It is cheaper to arrange this early in advance and you can often cancel it up to a few days before departure. Always check the conditions on the website. We recommend Parkos for Eindhoven, Maastricht and Rotterdam.

FLORENCE 7 DAYS

Another great city to visit: Florence. Florence is a city with many attractions. Here you will find the most beautiful churches, beautiful buildings, tastiest ice creams and great works of art. Walk across the oldest bridge in Florence: Ponte Vecchio, admire the beautiful Duomo and go to Piazzale Michelangelo at sunset from where you have a beautiful view of the city.

We stayed in a mobile home at Norcenni Girasole Club in Figline. But there are also apartments, bungalows and even a hotel at this location. A bus leaves from the campsite and takes you to the center of Florence in no time. We rented a mobile home and had a lovely time with the children. There was plenty to do on the campsite for them of course there were swimming pools (yes, multiple), but they went climbing, go to the disco and even had a foam party. For the mums and dads there was wellness, wine tasting (it is the Chianti area) and don’t forget the many restaurants.

From the campsite you can drive to the beautiful cities of San Gimignano, Lucca, Siena, Pisa and Volterra.
